Yoga Sculptures of India has been offering rare and sacred Indian art to communities throughout the world since 2003. The venerable gods and goddesses represented in our collections have pervaded and enlivened the Yoga traditions for thousands of years. Here, they are brought to life, with the most exquisite detail, by indigenous Indian artists in the mediums of marble, white cedar, mango wood, bronze, and silk paintings.
It is with great honor that we are able to offer the work of the Shilpi stone sculpting traditionof South India. These legendary artists have been fashioning masterpieces in granite and marble for over 1,500 years, using the same time-tested techniques of quarrying, carving, and finishing that were mastered by their ancestors, who date to the early Pallava dynasty. We engage only in fair trade with these talented, yet often poor artists, many of whom are dalits (from the 'outcaste' community).
Our vision is to bring their magnificent work to the homes of people who will treasure its sublime beauty, spiritual/yogic symbolism, and richness of detail. In so doing, tour goal is to create a living wage for the Shilpi masters. Additionally, a portion of all proceeds are donated to Rajen Thapa's boarding school for 'untouchable' children in Nepal.
